Moroccan Lantern

£180.00

This painting is part of a recent series based on photos, sketches and my travel journals made during visits to Morocco.   This particular painting is inspired by the stunning riads of Marrakesh. When you first arrive in Marrakesh you are met by someone from your Riad who leads down narrow dark alleyways. You really wonder just where you are being taken! Then a beautiful old carved door opens and you enter into a cool, lush interior with a central courtyard. These old merchant’s houses have been lovingly restored and decorated with Moroccan art and textiles.  It is a visual treat and the reason why I have returned many times.  At the moment I visit quite often in my imagination where new Moroccan paintings are still being created!
