I live in the Tay valley in an area that often floods. Recently I have been fascinated by the patterns and textures that this flooding produces. This abstract painting is based on photographs and sketches of a fence that been swept away by flooding. A tangled heap of wire mesh in a burn (Scottish word for a stream) had caught strands of straw and autumn coloured beech leaves which inspired the mark making, the patterns and colours.
